This "My Scooter Sunday" I start off my ride with a playlist of hard rock and blues. And kicking off the ride is "Bad To The Bone" (1982) by George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers.

There is so much curiosity about Room 48 in Majestic Hotel from last week's blog that I decide to remain in the area. I follow the same ride from Petaling Jaya through Bangsar past Hotel Majestic and Bulatan KTM. But this time my final destination is Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square).

Built in 1932, the Hotel Majestic was designed by the Dutch architect, Van Leangeanderg. According to internet research, from 1939 to 1945, the Hotel was used as a transit camp by the Japanese.

The rumour is that a Japanese soldier upset by the Japanese surrender in 1945, committed suicide in Room 48. It is said his ghost could be seen staring out of the window, and his ghost haunted the room till the Hotel was abandoned in 1984.

But a telephone chat with the current Hotel Majestic Reservations Desk this week revealed that Room 48 does not exist in either the new Tower wing or the old Majestic wing. In addition to that, the old Majestic wing is currently being refurbished, and it will be reopened in July 2022. This explains why there was no front desk in the old wing when I visited last week!

Today's ride is 20km and 30 minutes long. And what I enjoyed most this "My Scooter Sunday" was researching into Room 48, and riding to hard rock and blues!

Scootin' off for now!
